This can be the issue. I found out that Linux also recovers from this
"hanging" after solid amount of time (say, 5 minutes). The most
interesting thing is that file you ried to copy is at the very end
received successfully. Windows can recover from this more quickly but
since hardware is the same I think it should be possible to implement
the same recovery procedure on Linux. Also (it's a mere observation,
I didn't do any measurements etc.) Windows copies files faster than
Linux (I mean, at real USB 2.0 speed, when transfer rate in my Linux
system is usually about 700-800 KB/sec, although /pric/bus/usb/devices
says usb-storage is conected to USB 2.0 controller (Spd=480) not 1.1).

I read somewhere that problem may be due to clock resync in USB
controller and it can be "cured" with external USB hub plugged between
the Flash stick and USB port. I didn't have the time to check it yet.
