I meant for you to copy this while the drive was plugged in! But never mind, it doesn't really matter. > Messages after plugging the usb-harddisk in usb2.0 port Those are all normal. > Messages after mounting the usb-harddrive > Apr 4 21:41:27 charon kernel: usb-storage: usb_stor_bulk_transfer_sglist: > xfer 4096 bytes, 1 entries > Apr 4 21:41:27 charon kernel: ehci_hcd 0000:00:0c.2: devpath 4 ep4in 3strikes > Apr 4 21:41:27 charon kernel: usb-storage: Status code -71; transferred > 1536/4096 > copying data to usb-harddrive You got a few error like this. There's no good way to tell what the cause is. That error code means the drive either isn't responding at all or else is responding with an invalid signal. > umounting the usb-device Okay, no errors. > Messages after unplugging the device Also no errors. On the whole that looked like it was working with occasional problems. Some improved error recovery for usb-storage has been submitted; maybe it will help a little -- but it won't prevent the problems. You said the drive works okay under Windows. Can you be certain that it's not getting the same sorts of errors? Maybe Windows just doesn't report the errors to you.
