I just tried 2.6.12-rc2 + above patches and it "Just Worked". :^)
Thanks again for pointing me at those patches!
I tried first with "CONFIG_USB_DEBUG=y" and then thinking that might
affect the timing of things, tried again with DEBUG disabled.
Both worked fine.
I've parked a tarball with config/System.map/vmlinuz/libmodules on
ftp://gsyprf10.external.hp.com/kernels/ob500/2.6.12-rc2+USB.tgz
along with the above two patch files.
Any ETA on when those will land in linus' tree?
It would be good if those made it into 2.6.12.
