But the device is hardly brought back to operate when I wrote "running"
to the "state" sysfs file. And in this case, the "state" file will be
automatically reset to "offline" state after I tried to access the
/dev/sdX block device. I just want to find a way to do my user-space
error recovery for Kernel 2.6.12.5 since 2.6.13 is unusable due to the
hang problem.
You are actually facing several different problems: the device fails,
usb-storage hangs, the SCSI layer stops doing I/O... It's important to
find out exactly what is going wrong, because fixing one thing won't
help if another thing is still not working.
