Sorry, I was unclear.  What I meant is "putting a hub between the card
and the drive didn't work since it didn't work without the hub there".

Odd... I saw ehci-hcd loaded, so I unloaded it and loaded ohci-hcd,
and now everything works.  Then I rebooted, and again ehci-hcd was
loaded, and if I rmmod it and modprobe ohci, things began to work, and
now the mountpoints in /media are working properly.  And strangely
enough, there's no ohci-hcd driver loaded anymore.

I'm really puzzled, probably because I know next to nothing about USB...
Also, if someone wants to tell me where to read up on hid's, I'd
appreciate it as I've got a bluetooth kbd & mse, and bt seems to build
on the usb idioms...
