Dear Alan, Thanks for the reply: > In general the Genesys Logic adapters seem to work okay. The sort of > problems you're seeing are usually caused by poor USB cables, or a bad >cable/connector combination.
I will check for USB cables and connectors. Still I have some concern regarding Genesys Logic when I see the report on this page: http://www.qbik.ch/usb/devices/showdev.php?id=3015 I also have separate power supply for CD-RW through the Adapter but the above feedback suggest that I may require USB powered hub. I am connecting presently to whatever ports I have on the Laptop and tried all the 3 with same result. Is separate USB powered hub essential? Apart from the adapter I would like to know whether Toshiba Samsung CD-RW Model TS-H292 I am trying works on Linux or not. I could not find any feedback after searching on Google. I hope you have seen the other errors in my earlier message still I am asking for my learning. You wrote that the first error is due to poor cable/connectors what about this one: localhost kernel [4294986.183000] usb 3-4: device not accepting address 4, error -71 and this one: localhost kernel [4295122.839000] usb 3-4: USB disconnect, address 6 I would also like to know about what is happening here: localhost kernel [4295126.760000] usb 3-4: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 11 localhost kernel [4295127.164000] Initializing USB Mass Storage driver... localhost kernel [4295127.168000] scsi0 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices localhost kernel [4295127.172000] usb-storage: device found at 11 localhost kernel [4295127.172000] usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning localhost kernel [4295127.172000] usbcore: registered new driver usb-storage localhost kernel [4295127.172000] USB Mass Storage support registered. localhost kernel [4295127.340000] atkbd.c: Unknown key pressed (translated set 2, code 0xaa on isa0060/serio0). localhost kernel [4295127.340000] atkbd.c: Use 'setkeycodes e02a <keycode>' to make it known. localhost kernel [4295127.474000] atkbd.c: Unknown key released (translated set 2, code 0xaa on isa0060/serio0). localhost kernel [4295127.474000] atkbd.c: Use 'setkeycodes e02a <keycode>' to make it known. localhost kernel [4295130.589000] usb 3-4: USB disconnect, address 11 Kamalakar ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
