Igor, I am running Debian Sarge with a 2.6.15 kernel based on the standard 2.6.8 kernel. I can't respond to your questions, because I'm a newbie to Linux.

I have been using USB on RH9, FC3, FC4 without any problems for the last few years, it just worked out of the box. This is the first time USB gives me trouble. Does it make sense to open a case with kernel/modules developers? How does one do that? What is a good way to test USB under Windows to make sure that nothing is really wrong with the hardware?
