I forgot to mention that this board works fine with an ALi USB chip, so it's
probably not a general problem with the EHCI controller.
So the question stands -- has anyone gotten this CPU to work with the NEC chip?
(Also, "the device can't reach back over the PCI bus", below, is a
hypothetical -- I realize that if the device can't reach back over the bus,
things aren't going to work.)

I'm working to bring up Linux on a locally-designed embedded system that
uses the MPC8245 (a ppc 603e) and an NEC 720101.
I'm using 2.4.22, with some ehci code from 2.4.30 backported in.
I've been getting the (common|dreaded) "usb.c: USB device not accepting
new address=3 (error=-110)". I've tried the normal things (check the
device in other machines, change the cable, etc), but not gotten
anywhere. It may be the PCI bus (the device can't reach back over the
PCI bus to main memory to read the urb), it may be the way interrupts
are configured, it could be any of a number of things.
Looking at the CONFIG_USB_DEBUG output, as well as some dbg() calls I've
added, it's not clear to me what's going on.
But before I go off the deep end, ne question -- has anyone had success
with this CPU and controller chip combination? Is this code known to
work on big-endian machines? (I can only assume it does, since Macs seem
to be ppc / ehci machines, but I thought I'd ask.)
Does anyone have suggestions on what to try next?
