I tried again on a thinkpad t40p laptop (i.e. 32bit, centrino, ich
chipset, quite common) with kernel 2.6.16.28 and tried seven pieces of
that hardware:
  - same problems
+ If I try long enough I get all of them to work.

so this is a sporadic problem in the device and/or linux, I don't have
enough clue to know which one. I tried once more on linux 2.6.17.8
and after 11 tries in total I had one success on each of the 7 tokens
(quite lucky this time, usualy more of them seem to fail). also it is
not always the same tokens that fail, more like a random thing.

I will play around with sleeps in my driver, maybe some stupid delay
will heal the tokens. increasing timeout did not help so far.

thanks for your help.
if you have any suggestions how to debug the problem further, please
let me know. also if anyone is interested, I can spare some tokens.

Regards, Andreas
