Hello Igor,

Because of intermittent problems with the VIA USB chipset on my mobo I
went looking for a PCI adapter board for my Gentoo system.

My first attempt was a StarTech board bought from a local computer
store. It had an ALi chipset and worked poorly with my 2.6.19 kernel.

My second and third attempts were CompUSA and Belkin boards. Both
had a NEC chipset and both worked well. As the CompUSA board was $10
cheaper, I kept that and returned the Belkin. In the 2 weeks I've
been running backups to an external USB hard drive, the card has
performed flawlessly.

HTH,

David
