Over the years I never dared to build a custom kernel, for not only do I lack the time for it, but I'm intimidated by the prospect. Am I to infer from your statement that one can't really find out how the kernel is responding to the attachment of my camera without turning CONFIG_USB_DEBUG on? I gather is off in the stock kernel.
