That assumes you don't provide an ioctl you pass a firmware buffer into. There
are sound arguments for keeping firmware out of compiled in kernel space
anyway. Old SYS5.2 NCR towers used to have daemons that basically did nothing
but firmware supplying. I don't think a usb-firware-daemon is out of the
question.
