Since the current USB audio driver doesn't support midi, it looks
like it's up to you to take the plunge.  Maybe there will be other
interested people to help out.

I don't expect the USB status to change a lot between now and 2.4
except for tying up some loose ends (like system hangs) and
getting the host controller drivers all acting the same (behavior,
semantics, etc.), plus hopefully getting OHCI fixed on some
platforms (or chipsets) where it has problems.  Oh, and
usb-storage is still in rapid development mode.  Thanks, Matt.

Vojtech would be the best person to answer this.  My limited
knowledge of mouse protocols is that all the cloners just use
a protocol that the big guys use.  I don't know about
trackballs.
