The EZUSB devices do a device reset and usually come up with a new
Product Id (I say usually because all of the devices that I have seen do
this, but I can't say for sure that ALL of them do).
But Anchor Chips (and now probably Cypress, since Cypress bought Anchor)
has a patent on the process of soft disconnect/reenumeration, so the
EZUSB chips are probably the only ones that do this.
I have a device here with a different chip set that requires firmware
downloaded on powerup that does NOT reset after it is done. It is just
part of the startup process of the device. This is probably the way that
all non-EZUSB device that need firmware download do this to avoid the
patent issue.
