I don't like that solution either -- but in the meantime, I can make that
machine to productive use, which wasn't possible before.
If the daemon solution turns out to be unavoidable, I'd really make that a
generic solution, linked with khubd (this doesn't need to be USB-specific
either, just some "klaterd" with an interface similar to tasklets).
