Hello!
On a sony c1xn I have patched the 2.2.14 kernel (from RedHat's
kernel-source-2.2.14-5.0 rpm file) with the usb backport patch as
found on the linux-usb website (usb-2.3.99-pre7-1-for-2.2.14.diff).
(The "plug-and-play" support settings in BIOS have been disabled in
order to make the USB subsystem to work.)
After having defined the neccesary usb devices and loaded the uhci,
usbcore, input, hid and the mousedev modules the sony usb mouse works
very well (although it does not survive a suspend).
Unfortunatly if I now inserts a pcmcia card the keyboard, mouse and
the display will freeze completly. There are noe sign of anything in
the logs and so on. Power off/on is needed to get the computer up
again.
Obviously there are some kind of hardware conflict between the
pcmcia part and the USB part, but how can I find out more about
where the problem is? Have anyone experienced similar problems
before and found a way to solve it?
An another ting is that if I first stops the pcmcia subsystem
(cardmgr, etc.), then inserts the pcmcia card and then starts the
pcmcia subsystem again, then it works! (I have to stop the pcmcia
subsystem before pulling out the pcmcia card, otherwise the computer
will freeze again.)
Any help or suggestions would be most welcome!
best regards,
kmm
