Hi, I have tried using a cheap 5 port hub made by Shark Multimedia with the usb-2.3.99-pre7-1-for-2.2.14 backpatch but with no success. This hub is based on the Motorola 141555 Hub Controller chip. The USB controller is made by SiS (7001) and works happily with an Epson Photo 750 USB printer using the same Linux software. When I plug in the hub I get an "USB hub found" message but it then fails to configure the hub. I added some diagnostics to the code and found that the first call to usb_hub_get_descriptor() in usb_hub_get_descriptor() was failing with an error code of -75. Anybody got any hints/suggestions.
