short follow-up on my Microchip Test board with PIQ18F24J50 chip:

pySerial worked quiet well, got some html server component up and running.

Nevertheless the device again failed to work on machines (that meanwhile worked) after having it plugged-off (from USB) for 2 days. It clearly looses some state and does not get into working state with kernel 3.x.

As it runs out of the box with kernel 2.6 on the same hardware and on every windows machine I still think it has to be connected to changes in the kernel. But that's only my humble concluding experience by now.

Will try to find out further details or give up and buy another GPIO board...
