OK, In that case resort to non-hurtful name calling, and subtle suggestions of improper behaviour?
In my view serial spammers are getting about as low as it can get on the IT scale, although Nuclear weapons possibly are a slight over-reaction, the Internet equivalent would be good. The Blackholes do have an effect, but not enough ISP's use them to be really effective. If the number of "targets" was reduced sufficiently by adoption of black holing or some other anti-spam technology it might reduce the problem.. Another major issue is that so many people these days put servers online that are open relays, and they don't know it.. Sendmail is particularly bad in that sense, the default install is a barn door spam wise, as is Mdaemon and probably others I don't know anything about. They are all "pluggable" holes, but generally a server will be online before the admins who put them online realise they are assisting spammers in their game. Spamming is the equivalent of sending those damned readers digest letters (You have already Won!) with postage owing.. We all pay for it in our internet access charges, bandwidth allocations, volume limits etc, whatever is appropriate for your internet access charging model. Users should 'petition' their ISP if they get too much spam, ask the ISP what action they take, do they use blacklisting, blackholing, or any other similar technology? If there isn't a big price issue, shift ISP's to someone who actively blocks the shite... Cheers, Chris Hellyar. As a pacifist I rebuke you Chris. Nuking people is not nice. Even spammers have mothers who love them. ###################################################################### The contents of this e-mail message may be privileged and/or confidential.
