Hi Merry Xmas

I have finally installed Mandrake 8.0 PowerPack.
SuSE finds my Genius GM56flex-V Rockwell modem no prob, Mandrake (as
usual) 8.0 nogo. I set it up when i installed MDK, it said ok, when i
tried dialing with kppp i was pleasantly surprised when it started
up, i stoped it before it connected. But i found when i later tried
to connect it would only start to connect then stop and start again
over and over.

The modem is a isa pnp with dip s/w.
I can't access the modem as root.

I have a PS/2 Mouse.

I have a isapnp sound card that works ok.

I looked thro all the info i have (a lot) but nothing, i changed some
settings in kppp, made no diff. I tried Control centre wizard and lost
all access to the modem, kppp now tells me the modem is busy.

I changed a few files - /etc/ppp/options - resolv.conf, made no diff.

mandrake
  setserial /dev/modem UART:, Port: 0x03e8, IRQ: 4

  ls -al /dev/modem  --->  /dev/ttyS2

I changed it to
  setserial /dev/modem UART: 16550A, Port: 0x03e8, IRQ: 4
made no diff.

suse
  /dev/ttyS2, UART: 16550A, Port: 0x03e8, IRQ: 4

win
  com 03 03e8 irq 4

Is there no minicom in MDK 8?.

Also is there no pico in MDK 8? (my favourite editor).

Have a good Xmas everbody.

Cheers
  Trevor
