Great to see so many of you at the meeting last night. There were some
questions asked about forums for opensource advocacy related to
government and such. Here are the relevant links following on from the
groups I mentioned:

http://www.openz.org/ - a group focused on opensource advocacy within
New Zealand. There is an email list you can subscribe to. Low to
moderate traffic, people generally post discussion about how to advance
the cause, and links to NZ and overseas news articles about the uptake
of opensource.

http://www.efnz.org.nz/ - newly formed New Zealand branch of the
Electronic Frontiers Foundation. Acts as a watchdog for civil rights on
the Internet (things like copyright law, laws relating to electronic
commerce, free speech online etc). There is a mailing list and an IRC
channel. The list has been very active since inception at the beginning
of February.

Remember, freedom doesn't come for free. Contribution is key to
creating liberty, and realising the potential for change that open
software brings. If you are like me and you can't contribute code to
OSS projects, contribute your time in writing documentation, look after
OSS web sites, support new users, or work in advocacy groups like those
above. We each have unique skills, there is something each of us can do
to contribute. Give, contribute, and it will come back to you a
thousand fold.
