Hi, I used these drivers for a while. The ones I downloaded worked for 2.2.x kernels only, and even then you had to compile the kernel to load modules from different kernel versions. E.g. au8820.o, the object file, is built for a particular 2.2.x kernel, and refuses to load with e.g. 2.2.19 kernel unless you compile with "Set version information information on all module symbols". This was a pain. The card worked wonderfully when the driver loaded... for a while. When I upgraded to 2.4.x kernels I got a new soundcard as I experienced many stability issues with au8820.o, and wanted something that had a complete source driver and not just an object file.
The drivers you are using may be different, but IMHO they are not "trouble free" by any means. Regs, Andrew Kemmy. -- SAIR & GNU Linux Certified Professional mobile 00 35387 7973011 B.I.C.
