This is because too much effort is spent in emulating Windows rather
then replacing it.

Eventually won;t it be like processors? Where the average desktop has
three times the grunt the average user needs? At this point the software
becomes equal - and escalating costs make a difference too.

M$ *control* the technology. Linux will come into its own when the end
user can click on a button and print their own CPU, display, WLAN
assembly etc. At the moment they can't but things are a-changing.
