Sadly this is no longer a valid statement when it comes to Win XP Linux still supports thousands of ISA, and PCI cards. Win XP hardly supports PCI any more and does not support ISA (Its M$ policy to have legacy free machines - I.E. No cards!!). Yes you can possibly use "Uncertified Drivers" but they are not supported as such. Also far more Manufactureres are beginning to release Linux Drivers for many of there devices, but some are holding off due to GNU licencing Issues and some suits are over before they release any. Yes Linux may not have drivers for the lastest and greatest hardware, but boy does it support alot of old weird junk. Oh... If people havent used windows before, and you introtuce them to Linux first, then they will grow to love Linux and hate windoze. I have done this with a few elderly people, and they love there Linux set up, it does everthing they need, and they dont have to fork out lots of money for an OS. I have minimal time supporting these people, yet for one person who has a windoze box I have spent hundreds of hours support on them.
