I have had occasion to use a USB attach Mitsubishi Diamond Data CD-RW and it works like a charm... plug it in, Linux identifies it correctly and away you go. Very useful in irritating my W2K colleagues who have as yet been unable to get the device to work in a consistent fashion... (not that I would rub it in or anything)

Has anyone used a CD writer connecting via USB, and if so is it a
recommended way of doing things?
I'm considering USB because I'll be able to swap the drive between my
collection of PCs and eventually plug it into my PS2 when I get the
Linux kit.
OTOH if it's dog slow, expensive and unreliable, I'll just get an
internal one for the moment.
