More info, I tried to see if I could get Linux to install via NFS using the new card. And hey presto it works just fine, installs just like it did on the older card.
However it still gives me the same prompts at boot time as before. Makes it to, GRUB and just sits there. I had a thought that it might be that grub cannot find the kernel. But I put it on a /boot partition (hda1) of 50MB so it should have no problems. I tried to boot via the boot disk I made during the second install, and guess what, the boot disk tells me it cant find linux. Is this NIC somehow masking the partition table of my drive? Mark Carey
