Hello Rob and Andrew thanks for your comments, I have disabled the firewall
and fixed up the guest account so now I am getting the IPC$ login prompt
which indicates a password authentication problem.
I have had a look at the smbpasswd file and it is different from the RH6.0
smbpasswd file. The RH7.3, file the two 32bit encrypted passwords are only
shown as 32 x 's whereas the RH6.0 file shows a string of numbers in each
field. This may be correct as the way the encrypted passwords are verified
is calculated at login time I believe.
