Although not the problem that you're reporting, the next thing that you'll find is that ntp won't want to adjust your clock if you're a long way off the real time. I run ntpdate at boot time (well, boot + internet time), which will do large jumps. ntpdate -s -p 8 ntpserver.wherever.internet.domain On an old BSD box, we make do with a daily call to ntpdate, rather than run the old security risk version of ntp. Your need to have UTC may vary. -jim The man with one clock knows what the time is. The man with two clocks is never sure.
