Hey all .. I finally took the plunge and tried to install linux on my lc575
.. thanks to Craig Falconer I now have a use for the machine .. thanks Craig

anyway .. I'm installing debian 3.0 ... and it does a reasonable job .. but
it clags out trying to do this

chroot /target --force-depends --install
/var/cache/apt/archives/debconf_1.0.32_all.deb

I think this is when its trying to write debootstrap .. cos that exits with
an error (return value 1)

the machine will boot to the point where its asking for the next run level
.. ie there is no inittab

anyone have any clues as to where to from there??

I am 1. new to macs and 2. new to debian

by the way this is being installed on a second scsi drive .. via a network

there is a "rescue" image which I could load if that would help

looking for pointers in the right direction.

thanks in advance

Paul
