Sorry to disagree with you Paul, but I think ipcop is a better option.
The smoothwall developers are such jerks (well Richard Morrell anyway).

Gerrard, I think you are in Blenheim? I will be yup there during the
school holidays if you need "hands on" help.

But to answer the client access question, I'm not sure this ispossible
"out of the box" with either your slackware solution, smoothwall or
ipcop. It will be possible to kludge something together though.

I would move the dhcp onto the gateway box, and use static ip addresses
dished out by the gateway. Then at least you have the dhcp on the same
box that will restrict net access.
