No, not really, the more I've taught myself the more I've realized just
how little I know. That said I honestly don't think I'll be totally out
of my depth. The course is not exactly rocket science or brain surgery.
The only problem is that the O/S of choice is RH-7.3 & I have been
playing with Mandrake for about 18 mths., Suse, Debian, and Yggdrasil
before that. Now Gentoo recently. I pointed all that out to Avonmore but
they said it didn't matter. They said direct editing of the config files
is ok. The students are going to get vi's 'treatment', but I'll not let
her get totally out of hand.

I'll order you an edible one. I'm only going to read them the mail-list
posting.

And I've just discovered that the CD in with the book has a copy of the
text of the book but it's in Adobe's Ebook format, and thus will only
work on MSW or, I suppose, if you decrypt it using the Demitry ( sp? )
method. Imho that really is a completely legal reason for the Russian
Ebook opener. You have just installed linux as directed by the said book
on to your machine, and now you can't read the friggin' book from the
CD! "Quite potty" in just two words.

There's no need to use six words when there is just the perfect one for
the job you know. :-)

Peter Sheer gets _a lot_ more into his RUTE book which is about 100
pages shorter iirc, and it's about 20% cheaper!

I'll be bringing the little 400MHz PII from HP so that ppl. can play
with the Pink Rabbit etc. Also the two TeXLive files on one CD.

Sincerely etc.
