Hi-ho, Many thanks to Carl, and all who turned up to the meeting.
I was a little apprehensive (although too busy at the time to partake in the lively repartee) about a 'CLI' presentation, but I think most people would have got something from the meeting (Coffee at least). The idea of the 'Workshop' type meeting is great, and will allow us to effectively address one of the main problems with LUG meetings, that being the raft of different experience levels, and therefore, expectations. I see potential for this type of meeting to take on a form where more people will find something of interest to them. From getting a game to run properly or installation problems with a printer, to far more technical (or 'geeky') problems. Everyone not actively working with a machine, or helping to solve a problem would be free to float around the meeting, and find something in their 'comfort zone' so to speak.. Maybe an opportunity for the more advanced users to have an deep discussion about networking or hardware issues, while others look at issues around using OpenOffice to access MS office files? And thinking of the meeting, Did anyone who accessed the camera during the meeting keep any images from the camera? And who was looking at the ceiling? As far as I can tell 41 people accessed the camera (41 unique IP's in the log) although it did stop updating there for a wee while. Cheers, Chris H.
