I've got Linux and XP dual booting no problem. If you installed XP second,
then it'll try to rewrite your MBR, and often only writes part of the MBR.
That's probably what happened.

You'll need to boot from your rescue disk, and re-run lilo...remember to
edit /etc/lilo.conf so that lilo will give you the option of booting from
your winnt partition...add something like this:

 other=/dev/hda3
        alias=2
        label=Windows


and you'll be all good...i hope :)
