'course not. (for a start I'm hardly representative of the 'gang'). I was simply interested to see that you were in fact using a CLI for something, after being on your "GUI's can do everything" horse.... I was beginning so suspect you might be a mac user ;-) of course I should also get off my "GUI's aren't as good" horse and point out that if you were just wanting to change to root to run something, you in fact can do it with a gui (well, in a manner)... in kde at least you can set a particular application to 'run as' a user (and enter 'root' in the box), and it prompts you for a password when you run it.
