Interestingly from tthe Dans Guardian requirements page:

"DansGuardian 2 probably requires as a minimum 150Mhz per 50 users and
32Mb per 50 users plus 150Mhz and 64Mb. The memory requirement is more
for the cacheing proxy than DansGuardian. A minimum of maybe 2Gb hard
drive is required. "

Also an interesting take on ipcop and the GPL:

"I would discourage people from using IPCop for running DansGuardian
for the following reasons: What the IPCop team have done is basically
fork a project (SmoothWall) from a programmer and its benefactor. This
is, unfortunately, a failing in the GPL which gives the authors little
or no rights and allows people to do this. Please don't condone this
behaviour. I would be very annoyed if someone just went off and forked
DansGuardian.
I find the lack of development and slowness to react to security holes
or DoS problems disappointing. I've had a problem with stability also.
Contributing to IPCop actually takes food off the tables of people who
actually wrote and paid for it (the SmoothWall team).

Because of the above reasons there is no support by me (the author) of
DansGuardian on IPCop (or SmoothWall).

Yes I do work for SmoothWall now, but most of the above was determined
before joining them. DansGuardian on SmoothWall or IPCop has never been
supported anyway so there is little difference other than my voicing
an opinion now. Note this is a less flamey version of an original
statement. I reduced it slightly as I felt it was a bit too strong and
not the sort of thing I would normally do."
