Yeah I did a bad block scan before I installed debian and it said there were no 
troubles. Maybe I should do this again within   
the redhat installer.

Would I be wrong in thinking there's an option to do a bad block scan before 
you format? (or do I have my wires crossed?). And if so, are you using it?
