Ooh, now you've really hit on something I think. An expo, with CLUG providing a wide variety of information for home users who are interested in switching to linux. Plus some information for businesses about the software alternatives they have under linux.
Additionally, it would be nice to get some of the linux companies in christchurch along to have some stalls or something on the kind of services they provide. I can think of two linux development companies in christchurch aside from where I work, and I'm sure theres a few more. Hell, we could go all out and get IBM along with some sponsorship, maybe even get the convention centre ;) Sascha On Thu, 2002-10-17 at 08:53, Jeremy Bertenshaw wrote: > I agree, wait until theres a real need to spend the money, > maybe some day we could run a linux 'expo' where > professionals and amateurs alike could come along and > see linux in action and have a play and listen to talks > etc... kinda like a big advertising push, but over a day, > like the computer shows they used to have at addington > etc... > > jeremyb. >
