I'm considering buying a laptop, if my finances will stretch. My sole
requirement (beyond the obvious things everyone wants, like
reliability and *as much power as possible*) is that it run linux
well, although a DVD drive would be nice also.
I'm in Canada at the moment, as you may know, but it sounds like I
*might* be coming back for a couple of weeks at the end of November,
so it's possible that I might be able to get something in NZ if
something good crops up.
However, mostly at this stage I'd like brand/model
recommendations. Is it worth considering the second-hand market?
I guess I was hoping to spend not much more than $1,100 CAD, which is
around the $1,500 NZD mark.
