I thought that you could configure WinXP onto a linux system.   Sumner
Primary School has a WinXP client on connected to a Linux server and it
goes sweet as.....Steve Fergusson did the install.  If you want his
number let me know.

Which version of samba are you using?  Full XP connectivity isn't there
yet, not even in the CVS versions leading up to samba 3.0

Is it possible the XP machine has different share access - based on
username.  Are you supplying a username to smbmount with  -o
username=bob   ?  Is there a domain controller involved, or is it a
straight workgroup (is there such a thing as a bent workgroup?)

What about a share on the linux box - is it ro or rw to itself/the
windows machines?
