Tim's reccomended listning guide (because he's done *two* history of
electronic music shows on RDU this year):

Hip Hop: try Jurassic 5 or A Tribe Called Quest. Michael Franti for very
funky political stuff (he's very good, but probably too funky to be hip
hop). For local stuff, try King Kapisi, Che Fu, or P Money.

House: hmm, don't know much about house. Mr Fingers (aka Larry Heads) does
really old house. Remix magazine's best of house (I saw it at echo records
for $14 today) is really good deep house (I should really get a copy).
Orb's "Adventures beyond the ultraworld" is ambient house. local? try
Cuffy, Leon D, Phully.

Trip Hop (It's my favourite genre): DJ Shadow is a listening requirement.
Depth Charge are one of my favs at the mo. Wagon Christ is outstanding.
local stuff: Minuit (they have 2 EPs out). If you get a chance to see
Auckland DJ Chris Cox play, then go.

Trance: Paul Okenfold, Sasha, John Digweed.

Drum and Bass/Jungle: Plug, Aphex Twin, Amon Tobin. local: conficius.

Ambient: Brian Eno, Aphex Twin, Orb

Techno: Carl Craig, Luke Slator.

Ambient Techno: Plasticman
