Hi Sasha - this is the one I mentioned - Scuttle (actually Alister McFadden) - sells most of his stuff by auction on trademe - but will sell direct if he has stock of the item (he won't cancel an auction though as that invokes a penalty from Trademe and usually gets you negative feedback). His website advertises the stuff he has stock of (at the moment the modem is not listed).

I have bought quite a lot of stuff from him over time and can vouch that he is great to deal with and very helpful.

Last week I saw someone on trademe.co.nz selling a number of "true
hardware pci modems" for around $40-$50 new

Supposedly according to the blurb they were natively supported by the
linux kernel. (well he spelled it 'kernal')

Worth a look I guess.
