Oops, don't do that. You need to run fsck first to repair the
filesystem. To run fsck, a filesystem must be either not mounted (prob
your case) or mounted readonly.

I'm afraid running fsck manually won't succeed either here, but it will
give you better error messages. You'll need to find out what exactly
the problem is, and fix it. "couldn't find filesystem" seems strange.
You didn't take the disk out?? Muck with parition tables? Have a fauly
disk?

After that, you may mount the rootfs read/write (with the command given
on the screen) and continue to boot to runlevel 3 or 5, or, easier and
perhaps safer, exit the root shell with ctrl-D, continuing with a full
reboot.
