Hello all web site developers,

I've re-written pages from several sites where the government paid
big money to "top" web design companies. It's rare to find pages
that were not written in a WYSIWYG editor. It's cheap and easy to
employ a relatively unskilled person to do. It even works quite
well.

Where there are serious problems is after lots of hacking the page
about. Redundant code begins to accumulate behind the scenes. It
becomes difficult to read the code because a lot of the statements do
nothing. <p></p> <div><table><tr><td></td></tr></table></div>

Once there was something but now there is nothing, but the formating
remains.

Seriously, it's not a problem, it's untidy and I wouldn't want my
pages to be like that, but that's a personal thing. The beginner
will use WYSIWYG, but later may be less than satisfied with that
method.

(PS. Don't go rushing to my site for a how to do it example. Almost
no work there for 18 months, full of redundant pages and broken links
(most of which you won't be able to find I hope) It needs six weeks
work. I have not got six weeks, although thanks to Leo and Zane I
did give it a couple of hours last night.)

Regards
John
