So in the end did it work? It's fairly unusual for linux to crash.
Also you can also use the Graphical programs like rpmdrake under config

Large downloads can be a problem with linux for those who don't have
broadband.
There are a few advantages though using Mandrake update you can update
linux easily and most of the programs that come with it unlike windows
were you'd have to visit Windows update then the home page for each
application you've run. Still I'd agree it's not quite up there with
windows in some areas like user-friendliness. But its ahead in others
and getting better all the time. Really user-friendliness isn't to bad
if you stick to the Common tasks like music email internet productivity
etc. How ever when you start using Beta software like Mplayer your
bound to run in to problems on any platform. Ever tried using beta
Windows software theres just as many problems.

Still At least they're working on It and it is getting better.
