I did an 'emerge -u world' only last week, so have approx 1+Gbytes of 
reasonably fresh souce files on my machine. You are welcome to access them 
either as the primary d/l source or to cut a couple of CDs.
With all those free Gigs on the disk I expect the former. Bring a network 
cable and copy them to /usr/portage/distfiles .

emergeing kde-base, & therefore XFree86, will take several hours even on that 
fast machine.
