Both have their uses.  LAU is more of a support channel.  Tons of
questions go through, and most issues get resolved pretty quickly.
There have been a couple cases where windows users come by and become
more or less evangelists.  LAD is very developer oriented.  It can get
political with respect to licensing and dealing with propietary vendors,
but for the most part, the talk is very technical.

Along the same lines as LAD is music-dsp: [EMAIL PROTECTED],
which isn't linux specific, but is great for learning/discussing digital
audio techniques for developers.

I skim through Alsa Users as well: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Most of the major projects have users and developers lists as well,
which are going to be centred on a specific product, rather than the
community.

Betweet the 4 lists I mentioned above, there's probably about 500
messages/week, so be prepared for the volume.
