I have forgotten who it was that was having 9.0 problems with X but I have a suggestion. I have done this before so I know it works. Boot up the system with Knoppix, let it configure X for you and once booted, mount your hard drive partitions. Once you have done that, copy the /etc/X11/XF86Config and /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 files over from Knoppix to Mandrake. Reboot and voila, all should be well. You will lack acceleration and other features of your graphics card most likely (because Knoppix ususally picks "safe" generic drivers and config settings)but at least you can play with your X Config graphically from there. Be sure to save a copy of the files in case you royally shaft X.

Just an idea.

Cheers

Jason
