Probably neither is running a telnetd.  Try
        telnet localhost
and see if you get the same.

I assume you can print to each printer from the machine it's attached 
to... ?

You need to have working printers first.
Then share them, then finally access those shares from over the 
network.

I know for sure that the laserjet will work, but its possible your epson 
won't be sharable - depends on the model more than anything.

Try browsing to http://127.0.0.1:631/ and see if you get the admin 
screen
