i also have redhat 8.0 at home and wanted to do the mesa stuff the easiest way to find the rpms is on the net
i found that the glut libraries weren't there so that is probably the case with you also
here are the glut & glut-devel urls:
ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/redhat/8.0/en/os/i386/RedHat/RPMS/glut-3.7-8.i386.rpm
ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/redhat/8.0/en/os/i386/RedHat/RPMS/glut-devel-3.7-8.i386.rpm
Just install those rpms and you should be all good (rpm -i /path/to/the/rpm)
