I have just re-installed Mandrake 9 on my computer .......for various reasons, but mainly because I'm barely competent with Linux, and I had issues I couldn't resolve any other way........Hopefully this will change in the future, :-)
After the install I found my CDwriter was not working, and when I try to mount it ( in X, KDE ) I get a dialog box with the message *"Unable to enter file /mnt /cdrom2. you do not have access rights to this location"* also I am unable to mount it from bash.
This is the same message I get when I try to mount my cdrom drive without any media in it. cdrom drive is working fine.
I have installed MDK9 several times in the past, and it has always picked up all my hardware........even my Geforce 4 graphics card, which I thought was pretty impressive....... However the only thing I did differently this time was to install from the CDRW drive. I don't know if this has any bearing on the problem.
I did this because the install was spitting the dummy half way through, and I suspected my Cdrom drive ( rightly as it turned out...needed cleaning )
